Sp\u00e4ter wurde er mit der F\u00fchrung der Armee des Nordens betraut, wo er seinen Plan f\u00fcr die Emanzipation S\u00fcdamerikas entwickelte.<\/p>\n<p>Er wurde zum Gouverneur von Cuyo mit Sitz in der Stadt Mendoza ernannt und setzte sein Vorhaben in die Tat um, indem er 1821 die Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit Perus erkl\u00e4rte. Kurz darauf traf er Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar in Guayaquil und \u00fcbergab ihm nach einem kurzen Gespr\u00e4ch seine Armee und das Ziel, die Befreiung Perus zu vollenden.
