If what you are looking for is to enjoy nature and breathe fresh air, the Dehesa of Burguillos is the ideal natural environment. This mountain is located in the northern area of the municipality of Bail\u00e9n at a distance of 5.5 Km. from the urban center. <\/p>

The Dehesa of Burguillos was once used for livestock activities, currently becoming a recreation and leisure area, equipped with barbecues, water fountains, a visitor reception center and hiking trails for nature tourism lovers. To visualize its evolution chronologically, we go back to its origins in which this land had been destined for feeding oxen, where three plows per yoke were granted to each farmer, as it was destined for communal use. <\/p>

At the end of the 16th Century, the \u201cDehesa of the Ville\u201d as it was known at the time, would be used for tax purposes by auctioning off excess grass, acorns or hunting leases in order to pay royal taxes, becoming at this time a \u201cproperty\u201d and remaining included in this legal figure for the next three centuries.<\/p>

At the end of the 19th Century, the profits obtained from the Dehesa for approximately 20 years were used to settle a debt that the municipality had contracted with the town of Torreperogil, found in the province of Ja\u00e9n, derived from a loan.<\/p>

Later the confiscations would come during the reign of Elisabeth II, but as a result of it being the only pasture owned by the municipality intended for pasture, adjusted in a tight manner for the 717 heads of cattle it held, it was allowed for Bail\u00e9n not to be left without it.<\/p>

With the passage of time, there is a diversification of the economy that becomes detrimental for the livestock sector, causing the need to search for different uses for the area.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A tour to discover the particularly significant sites and landmarks scattered across the vast field where the historic Battle of Bail\u00e9n took place. You’ll also find monuments and relics of that historic feat, as well as a set of six monoliths that mark the main engagements and troops during the conflict.
