It was built in the 19th Century, near the house where the heroine of Bail\u00e9n, Mar\u00eda Bellido, supposedly lived.<\/b><\/p>

It was an area surrounded by orchards due to the abundance of water, so much so that its interior housed a stone fountain which, in times gone by, supplied locals with water.<\/b> To fill their jugs they had to have a certain skill level, since it was essential to string a reed that would lead the water from the channel to the vessel. Legend has it that a blind man<\/b> known as Joaqu\u00edn “the water carrier” had a gift for performing this task.<\/b><\/p>

In the mid-twentieth century<\/b>, it was remodeled <\/b>to become the plaza that we can admire today, where we find a fountain with the image of the patron saint at the top and surrounded by small, landscaped areas.<\/b><\/p>
