Bailén is located in the northwestern quadrant of the province of Jaén, which provides it with a notable location to act as a link between the main communication routes that link Andalucía with the rest of the Peninsula. Its municipal area is limited to the north by Baños de la Encina and Guarromán, to the south by Espeluy and Jabalquinto, to the east by Linares and to the west by Villanueva de la Reina.
