In 1933, this well-known park was built with a contemporary style, known as the Palm Trees Promenade.
The initiative comes from the Mayor at the time, Mr. Cristóbal Marín Ruíz Castellanos, to alleviate the existent unemployment in the city. In this Promenade, the Allegoric Monument of the Battle of Bailén escorted by 77 palm trees would be built. The work was designed by the architects Mr. Vincente Sánchez Andújar and Mr. Antonio Rivas in the late eighties.
Two symmetrical tetrahedra on which a oblique prism with a rectangular base is intersected, where a ceramic mural is located which interprets on one hand “The Rendition of Bailén” from the famous painting of José Casado del Alisal and in the other hand, to two traditional economic sectors of our city: ceramics and the cultivation of the olive grove. In this area the celebrations of our Festivities usually take place with activities of civil-military nature allusive to the Battle of Bailén.
